Summary | 08431: Sinclair default screen configuration | ||||
Description |
In MAME Sinclair and clones are configured with border 48:48:48:56. That gives maximum viability for hidden parts of the screen but changes default proportions of the screen 4:3 which leads to not perfect pixels on the screen. Part of this border is not available for users on real TV screens. Configurations allows user to deal with this issue but creates weak UX. We can change proportions to 4:3 by default easily but automated testing will receive a lot false positive screen comparisons. I will be happy to fix this if green light from testing team received. |

Remember that the Spectrum family outputs a PAL frame and thus things will look slightly squished when stretched to the correct 4:3 aspect ratio, so the actual on screen pixels won't be perfectly square. I've just compared MAME with a real Spectrum and the aspect ratio seems pretty spot-on, thanks to it outputting its full frame: https://imgur.com/a/BRRTZOx Real Spectrum +2: https://i.imgur.com/wPAT3nh.png MAME: https://i.imgur.com/WFCDvmB.png Comparison: https://i.imgur.com/uVK84lC.png |
