Summary | 08885: aliencha, alienchac: [possible] Unable to switch language to English and vice versa (possible lack of language switches?) | ||||
Description |
While this is primarily a DIP switch issue, this also applies to graphics. This applies primarily to the international version, but the Chinese version is also considered. When running the international version of Alien Challenge, the language of the in-game text should default to English. However, like the Chinese version, it runs with the text in Chinese. It is expected behavior in the Chinese version to default to Chinese, but it is not the right language for the international version. However, when I run it on another emulator (FinalBurn Neo via the RetroArch core), it defaults to English as expected. FinalBurn Neo has two language settings: One for the in-game text and one for the character names. Unlike in FinalBurn Neo, there are no settings to switch the language. There is also a switch to change the title to "Round House Rumble" and vice versa on FinalBurn Neo, but that does not exist on MAME. |
||||
Steps To Reproduce |
International version (Defaulting to Chinese for the in-game text and character names is expected behavior for the Chinese version): 1. Load the International / World version of Alien Challenge (aliencha). 2. The game's in-game text and character names are in Chinese instead of English when English should be the default language. |

Additional Information |
The "Possible" flag has been checked since the other emulator (FinalBurn Neo) acts as expected when running these games, while MAME does not. The "Noted in Source" flag (not "Verified with Original") has been checked since there are two YouTube video links in the lordgun driver source code that show the games running on real hardware, particularly the second video. The second video (international version with different copyright) could be a possible clone of the current international version ROM set. There are also three-digit routines originally planned for those switches' implementation. All screenshots have been taken by pressing the F12 key in accordance with site rules. For the FBNeo RetroArch core, I have mapped F12 as the screenshot hotkey. The first two screenshots are from MAME, while the other two are from FBNeo. |
