| Summary | 08998: All taitosj sets: [possible] Missing filter on DAC | ||||
| Description |
From the PCB footage of Taito SJ games I found, it seems like they use a stronger low-pass filter for sounds played with the 8-bit R-2R DAC, most noticable when inserting a coin in any game, on the avalanche stage in Jungle King, and the car scene at the end of a stage in Elevator Action. Sources: Edit: More PCB footage of SJ games: You can really hear a difference in Wild Western's train whistle. Also: the Arcade Archive releases of SJ games include the filter. |
