Summary | 09094: gensitou: Set should include "(Japan)" in title for clarity
Description |
The game "Prehistoric Isle in 1930" is known in Japan as "Genshitou 1930's". Therefore, it is likely a mystery as to why the Japanese version ROM set does not indicate its country/region of origin in its title. Therefore, the resulting title should be: "Genshitou 1930's (Japan)" (according to the title screen) or "Genshitou (Japan)" (according to flyers). |
||||
Steps To Reproduce | Open MAME and search "gensitou". Make sure the set view is set to "Unfiltered" before making a search query.

Does it actually show a “for use in Japan only” warning screen? Because if it doesn’t, there’s no guarantee it wasn’t licensed for distribution in other regions. |

No, it doesn't. SNK most likely never used those warnings on their arcade games' Japanese releases until Beast Busters came out. Also, their Neo Geo and Hyper Neo Geo 64 systems only use those warnings if a Japan BIOS is used. |

It's not "Genshitou 1930's", just only "Genshitou". It is important to remember that not all text on the title screen is the “official” description, an argument that has been repeated for decades. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%8E%9F%E5%A7%8B%E5%B3%B6 |

I'm 50/50 on making "1930" a sub-title like "The World Warrior" for sf2. But sure, I'll remove it. |

Nevermind, "1930" was readded. "(Japan)" stays. |
