Unable to confirm.
You mean the slider popup menu, right? (Tilde key on Windows). The TAB menu doesn't slow it down? What about TAB -> Slider Controls?

@hap, try this.

start up tmnt: mame tmnt -video opengl -nothrottle

Press F11 to turn on the speed display.

Press Tab. The speed will slow down quite noticeably - in my case from 12xx to 740.

Note: for me it always happens - not random.

Ok, I tried it like that, and it's easier to test with a fast game, like pacman. Same happens with any other video option, including bgfx.

AFAIK the menu txt renderer is slow, it draws/scales it letter by letter.
Go to inputs->general->user interface to see more speed loss, it's a large menu.

IMO it's just the way it is, not something easy to 'fix'.

That's why I changed the Severity to Trivial - who really cares what happens when the menu is showing? You can't play the game at that time.

If there's no objection, I think we can close this as "Won't Fix".

In my machine that issue only happen with OpenGL and is random.
Really if using BGFX and accessing the OSD menu has less performance, but not slowdown.

Yeah, not worth worrying about.

Closed, but you can still talk about it.
