| Summary | 09364: turbosubb8: Game is marked as working in the system selector and in ADB (green), but does not start at all. | ||||
| Description |
Three Turbo Sub game clones (turbosubb8 , turbosubc5 and turbosubc5s) are not loading even after 10 minutes of waiting after boot. The parent starts at around 50 seconds of wait. other three clones (turbosubc6 , turbosubc7 and turbosubc8) work and start immediately. They are marked in green in ADB and in MAME selector but seem not to work. These three clones were added in MAME 0.256:. |
||||
| Steps To Reproduce |
start with: mame TURBOSUBB8 or mame turbosubc5 or mame turbosubc5s Black screen and game not passing hardware tests and starting. |
||||
| Additional Information | I've tested with Windows x64 and macOS Arm64 Binaries (official binaries). Doesn't work with non official binaries as well. | ||||

It's mentioned in the source Notes: * 'turbosub' executes a series of hardware tests on startup. To skip, hold down keypad '*' on reset. * Hold '*' during the game to access the operator menu. BTANB: * Missing lines occur on real hardware. TODO: * Implement collision detection hardware (unused by Turbo Sub). * turbosubb8/c5/c5s lock up at hardware tests, see note above on how to skip. so you can start those if you hold * while resetting (they're early prototype revisions, maybe they required skipping the diagnostics even on hardwarE) |

You need to keep "Keypad *" pressed during boot, then they will work (noted at the top of the driver). (Oops - Haze beat me to it) |

Yes, I've tried with *, - or other keypad keys and combinations. Still the game doesn't start. I've tried remapping these keys to other keyboard keys, in case I was not pressing the right keys or Num Lock was on/off. Still wasn't able to start the mentioned prototype games/ |

Pressing * on the keypad worked for turbosubc5 and turbosubc5s But for TURBOSUBB8 I wasn't able. Seems it's the only one not working for me. |

> Load the game, hold *, press F3. That works. Thanks! You can close the issue. F3 isn't mentioned anywhere though. |
