Summary 09480: 144 games described as " manufactured by Taito Corporation Japan": The notation "JAPAN" is unnecessary.
Description The "Japan" part of "Taito Corporation Japan" is not part of the company name, but rather indicates the country of origin.
Therefore, "Japan" should not be included in this company name.

This is different from case #02187 (Technos Japan is the official company name).

According to mameui manufacturer tree at current git,

Taito : 273 games
Taito America: 10
Taito America Corp: 3
Taito America Corporation: 127
Taito Corporation: 316
Taito Corporation America: 1
Taito Corporation Japan: 133
Taito do Brasil: 50
Taito Europe Corporation: 2
Taito Japan: 1

So, yes, although the numbers don't quite match, a cleanup is certainly in order. In fact, the manufacturer list in general is in disarray.

I'm gonna start working on this now, but in this case, should the "Taito America Corporation" name be simplified to "Taito America" or just "Taito"? (the latter is closer to how Capcom arcade games are sorted by manufacturer name)

I am convinced that it should be referred to as "Taito America," because the "America" in the name is part of the company's official title rather than an indication of nationality. This is analogous to how "Technos Japan" is not simply called "Technos."
Taito America is Taito's U.S. subsidiary; while many of these games were developed by Taito in Japan and sold in the U.S. by Taito America, certain titles—such as *Qix*—are said to have been developed by Taito America itself, so careful attention to this distinction is warranted.
