Summary Regresssion 09521: qbert (all sets) and qbertqub: sound cuts off after a while and doesn't come back (except for the knocker)
Description After playing the game for a while, all sound (except for the knocker) will eventually cut off. Once off, it is off for the rest of the play session.
A soft reset with F3 will not help; only a hard reset (Esc, then relaunch) can bring the sound back, but the sound will eventually shut off again.

I pressed insert to speed things up in the attract mode, and sure enough the sound eventually muted.

Found that by entering the "Audio Effects" menu, speaker, Filters, change it from Active to Bypass, and the sound comes back.

The downside of this is that the voice effects are just a bunch of crackles.

So, yes, definitely a problem there.

EDIT: A bit more, it seems that the problem is with the voice effects. After a while they change from voices to crackling/muting. When this happens, all the sound is lost apart from the knocker sample.

And lastly, there's a warning at start that the sound is imperfectly emulated. So this might even be an invalid report. Devs can decide.
