| Summary | 09524: a600n, a1200n, a4000n, a4000tn ( cfodder): [possible] Ignores Early Startup Display Type set to PAL if floppy is mounted | ||||
| Description | Cannon Fodder (possibly others) actively ignores Early Startup Menu monitor setup and boot in NTSC mode regardless of user choice. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce |
- Start any of the listed machines with mame <set> -bios kick31 cfodder - Hold both mouse buttons at startup, if you get floppy activity then soft reset while holding the two buttons - Select Display Options -> change Display Type to PAL. - Click on "Use" then "Boot". - Let the game boot and check refresh rate in TAB menu -> System Information. NOTE: if system starts with no floppy and reboots up to the Floppy splash screen then PAL setup is correctly respected (i.e. cfodder boots in PAL mode). |
||||
| Additional Information |
Cannon Fodder is definitely not an NTSC game. This doesn't apply to a2000n, doesn't have a compatible chipset for switching between NTSC and PAL (option greyed out in Early Startup). |

As every other NTSC Amiga machine with Kickstart >= 2.0 you have to change the Display Type to PAL via the Early Startup Menu (hold both mouse buttons at startup). The only catch here is that if Cannon Fodder disk is in right after choosing Boot then it actively ignores the Display Type and boot in NTSC anyway, successfully runs in PAL if you leave the drive empty and mount it when the Kickstart floppy animation appears. Having said above, I've just refactored this bug report. |
