Summary 06530: elevator: unable to start game
Description Game:
Elevator Action

driver:
taitosj

set:
elevator

MAME version:
Official 0.184 from official site

Issue:
- many times after booting the game, you can add coins but cannot start the game. You get a prompt to "push 1 player button" but are unable to start the game. Either a letter P or a number 8 is displayed at the bottom, center of screen. This happens roughly 8 out of 10 times that you start the game

Possibly related to same issue causing 06527: elevator: Elevator Action sound ?

Thank you.
Jason

I went back to 0.154 and it was already reproduceable, so I don't think it's related to the other bug.

Since several previous versions when starting Elevator Action and fastest in less of 1 second inserting a coin the game freeze not being possible start and display in bottom screen P or 8.
Just reset to start a game.
To avoid that problem need to wait some seconds before inserting coin.
The same issue happen with others games.
Start The Combatribes ctribe and in less of one second insert a coin. The game freeze and need to insert another coin to display press start button and start gameplay.

I agree that this is a BTANB. I went back to 0.80 and it's the same. On a real arcade the screen still wouldn't have warmed up so nothing would be visible.

Wait a few seconds then it will work perfectly well.

It is true that many games are sensitive with coins and coining up.
Taito has been known to do this on other boards as well: 01398

Closing as a BTANB
