Summary | 08726: arabianm, cupfinal, intcup94, lightbr, pwrgoal, ringrage, scfinals and all their clones: Coin inputs only affect the first coin counter when game is set to Game Style G (4P 4SLOT) | ||||
Description |
According to the info posted here ( https://mametesters.org/view.php?id=1069 ), the G style 4 player 4 slot setting should add coins to 4 individual counters, each being for a particular player. So 5 key adds to Coin A, 6 to B, 7 to C, etc. Keys 5-8 only drop coins to the first counter (A) for these games, but the credits do show up for the correct players on screen. Ring Rage has a unique setting called "I (4P 1SLOT)", that setting doesn't seem to work right either. Only key 5 should add to the first counter with it, but instead 5 and 6 add coins to A and B (2 slots) individually. The other settings appear to work as they are explained in that post. The appropriate coin lockouts also disengage (C/D) when style G is set. |
||||
Steps To Reproduce |
1. Run any of the affected games. 2. Press F2, then go down to CONFIGURATION and press CTRL to enter it. 3. Move left/right to change GAME STYLE to G (4P 4SLOT). 4. Make sure to SAVE the settings and get out of service mode. 5. Press 5-8 keys one time. TAB to Bookkeeping Info and only the first counter shows any coins added. There should be 1 coin on each counter (Coin A-D) instead. |

That’s normal. When there’s one coin slot per player position, you set it up to use the same kind of coin in all four slots. Otherwise different player positions would cost different amounts per game. |

So I should change the description to be about just the I style in ringrage then, because that's 4P 1 slot and so Coin B setting wouldn't be used and leaving only the 5 key for a coin input, otherwise how is it different from H style (4P 2 slot) that uses 5 and 6 keys like I style is currently. And I want to mention this: Why do the coin counters have letters in the UI but numbers in the cfg files? It is very confusing with that lettering scheme also mixed with the Coin A/B dip settings as in the F type example (coin A affects counters A and C while B affects B and D). |

There’s nothing wrong here. "4P 1SLOT" just means that it has common coin/credit inputs for all players. It’s typically a single physical “slot” with acceptors for coins of two denominations (e.g. Australian $1 and $2 coins). There isn’t a separate slot for each kind of coin. Note that it allows configuring credits/coin separately for the two coin sensor inputs in this mode, so it provides separate counter outputs for the two denominations. |

That makes sense. I couldn't figure that part out, having 1 slot but 2 coin options. I try to picture the hardware vs the software set up inside mame, and stateside its usually a quarter or dollar for the denominations. I tend to think of the coin input keys as being separate slots most of the time. |
